Generally, customers will contact the shop to set up a time to bring in their timepiece. Rough cost estimates can be made upon request. Scheduled maintenance programs can also be arranged. Scheduled maintenance may reduce the long term costs of maintaining your clock and reduce the likelihood of severe wear.
Service types
Here are some typical services that I can provide:
- Movement cleaning and oiling.
- Mainspring replacement.
- Troubleshooting and adjustment of sounding mechanisms (bells, gongs, chimes, cuckoos, etc.).
- Replacement of missing or broken parts.
- Bushing of worn holes and replacement/repair of worn pivots.
- Complete overhaul of badly worn movements that have not seen service in many moons. Typically involves all of the above.
Clock types
I'll give anything a try, but here is a sampling of typical items that I see:
- Grandfather clocks
- Mantle clocks
- Shelf clocks
- Alarm clocks
- Cuckoo clocks
- Wall clocks (kitchen, schoolhouse, etc.)
- Many types of sounding: Westminster chimes to simple striking.
- Calendar clocks
